In the lead up to the Platinum Jubilee bank holiday weekend, alongside various street parties and events (discover what's going on here ), Cardiff is playing host to some utterly jaw-dropping musical acts.
While we are gutted that Lionel Richie made to the decision to pull out of his Welsh gig, there are some world-class musicians taking over one of the city's most scenic and beloved sites this week, Cardiff Castle, that you'd be mad to miss.

Madness
The 80s giants will perform in Cardiff Castle to kick off the Jubilee Weekend with a gig on Wednesday, June 1.
The gig will be hosted by DEPOT Live, the live-events arm of Cardiff venue The DEPOT. The six-piece 'Nutty Boys' gig will be kicking off at 5pm, and you can expect a set list teeming with some of their greatest hits.

Dermot Kennedy
He's just performed at Radio1's Big Weekend in Coventry, and now this week, Irish musician Dermot Kennedy is making his way to Cardiff to perform at the Castle. The chart-topping star will be in the capital on June 3.
The star joins a selection of shows hosted by Orchard Live & FKP Scorpio making use of the historic venue.
The Dublin born artist has established himself as one of the UK's leading musicians with his debut album 'Without Fear' making him a platinum-selling artist in over 12 countries. Alongside playing Cardiff and various other outdoor gigs this June, he is also confirmed to support Shawn Mendes on the first leg of his North American tour this year.
Known for his singles, 'Outnumbered, 'Power Over Me', 'Giants' and 'Paradise' in collaboration with Meduza have all been certified platinum tracks in 2021, with over 500 million streams on his duet track. Tickets here.
Gerry Cinnamon
With two Welsh gigs over the Bank Holiday Weekend this week, Gerry will certainly be getting an experience to remember in Wales. Following on from his Swansea gig at Singleton Park on Saturday, June 4 - which is set to be Cinnamon's biggest ever Welsh performance to date - the Scottish singer-songwriter and acoustic guitarist, who is loved for his "brutally honest" lyrics, will take over Cardiff Castle the following day on Sunday, June 5.
With a strong fanbase throughout the UK, it's no surprise the first batch of tickets have sold out. However, if you're lucky, you may be able to bag a ticket through resale here.
Platinum Jubilee Concert
Bringing together some of Wales' best talent Cardiff Castle, together with Live Under the Stars, will be hosting a party fit for the queen with their Platinum Jubilee Concert this weekend (June 4). With choirs, orchestras bands and more, Aled Jones and Shan Cothi will take you through a day brimming with incredible entertainment from all over Wales.
The confirmed acts include: Aled Jones and Shan Cothi, Mike Peters from The Alarm, Bonnie Tyler, West End and Broadway star John Owen Jones, "everyone’s favourite drumming weatherman", Owain Wyn Evans, Mike Doyle, the Pendyrus Male Voice Choir, and the Welsh Pops Orchestra.
You can also expect a specially produced "Singing in the Reign" programme, which will pay homage the some of the great Welsh stars like Shirley Bassey and Tom Jones with special arrangements of the songs which have been loved over the course of Her Majesty's 70-year reign.

And the music doesn't stop there - next week, you can expect some pretty big names to carry on the magnificence with some stellar gigs in the city centre.
Diana Ross
The Queen of Motown, global superstar Diana Ross is coming to Cardiff as part of her Thank You Summer tour on Friday, June 10 . Fans can rejoice in the magical memories of the past and marvel as one of the most successful recording artists of all time graces the castle's stage for a night of wonder. Expect golden oldies and new hits from her latest album, Thank You.

Stereophonics & Tom Jones
Rearranged from December 2021, 'King of Wales' Tom and the 'Phonics will be joined by Catfish and the Bottlemen and will take over the Principality Stadium on June 17 and 18.
