St Patrick’s Day is upon us again, and pleasingly it’s falling on a Friday this year, meaning that the festivities should be flowing seamlessly into the weekend.
Manchester already celebrated the event with a march last weekend but there's plenty more to enjoy.
As always, there’s a host of things to do in celebration, so let’s get into it…
Mulligans of Deansgate
However busy it might be, expect to be served up the best pint of Guinness outside Ireland at Mulligans, behind Deansgate. Though he doesn’t drink the black stuff himself, landlord Padraig Brady takes the business of a proper glass of Guinness extremely seriously. It’ll be the only seriousness going on, mind you, with live music and craic from Friday night and all through the weekend, with some action from the races at Cheltenham thrown in too.

The Lawn Club - two day Guinness party
What’s better than a one day Guinness party? Yes, a two day Guinness party, so head to the Lawn Club in Spinningfields where the revelry will flow from Friday into Saturday, with Guinness cocktails, Guinness themed giveaways, live Irish music and a parade. It’s free to get in, but booking might be an idea.
St Patrick’s Day at The Refuge
The Refuge will be turning over its underground bar the Vault to a St Patrick’s Day fling, with live music, Irish dancing and DJs all evening. It’s free, and the first 50 people to sign up for tickets will get a Jameson’s cocktail on the house. The Guinness will be flowing liberally of course, and there will be pies on tap from the fantastic Great North Pie Co. You can grab your free tickets here…

Kiely’s
Kiely’s will of course be celebrating the most Irish day of the year with live music from 2pm, coverage of the Gold Cup at Cheltenham on the telly and Guinness giveaways. There’s no booking, no tickets, just wander in and get involved.

Hatch
The boxpark under the Mancunian Way will be hurling itself into the St Paddy’s spirit with two days of live music from 3pm on Friday and Saturday from Helena Ward, the Manchester Celtic Collective, and Four Leaf Clovers. Not only this, but whenever C’est La Vie by B*Witched gets dropped, a Jamesons, ginger ale and lime will cost you £3.33 for the duration of the pop classic.

Crazy Pedro’s Bottomless Guinness
The stuff of St Paddy’s Day dreams, Crazy Pedro’s will be doing its bottomless pizza brunch and beer situation, but throwing Guinness into the mix as well. So that’s 90 minutes of slices and the black stuff.
55-57 Bridge St, Manchester M3 3BQ
Free Irish Manchester Tour
As part of the Manchester Irish Festival, you can take part in a fascinating tour of Irish Manchester on Paddy’s Day. It takes in the sights and stories of Little Ireland, tales from the industrial revolution and might even involve a pint of the black stuff, for those that way inclined. It’s free, and departs from HOME at 11.30am. Grab tickets here…
Edinburgh Castle
The favourite Ancoats boozer will be hurling itself into the spirit of St Patrick’s, with chef Shuan Moffat creating a handful of Irish specials from the kitchen, while live music during this ‘all-dayer’ will be coming from Matt & Donal, Niamh Finan and Méabh Kennedy.

20 Stories - St Patrick’s Day cocktail
Upscale your St Patrick’s Day by getting in the lift up to 20 Stories, where they’ve devised a special Paddy’s Day cocktail. The Evergreen Bloom is made of Jameson’s Irish whiskey, Double Jus, crème de menthe, Chartreuse, lime juice and vanilla syrup and looks as pretty as a picture.
1 Hardman Square, Manchester M3 3EB
Salt Dog Slims
Beer and dog purveyors Salt Dog Slims will be bringing in St Paddy’s with a wild Friday night party. There will be water pistols loaded with whiskey, there will be merch - ‘Padidas’ t-shirts anyone? - Guinness coming out of the taps in steins, hot dogs and all manner of other mayhem until 4am.
17 Bow Ln, Manchester M2 4FW
The Oast House
The Oast House will be hosting a two-day St Patrick's Day blowout, with special themed drinks (the JGL; Jameson's, ginger and lime, and the JOL; Jameson's, orange and lemon) plus some live music in its 'curious teepee'. Friday night (March 17) will see duelling pianos, a house band and a surprise live performance, while DJ Clint Boon will be whipping things into a frenzy on Saturday night.
The Avenue, Courtyard, Manchester M3 3AY
O’Shea’s
Another of the city’s quintessential Irish pubs, O’Shea’s is an essential stop off on the Paddy’s Day pub crawl. Why not head in early for a full Irish breakfast from 10am - including Clonakilty sausage and black & white pudding and soda bread - and see where you end up from there, with live music and festivities all through the day.
