Few people come to Liverpool without taking a walk along Mathew Street.
Considered the birthplace of The Beatles, many visit the street to follow the path once taken by Paul McCartney and John Lennon.

The Cavern Club
Still a thriving live music destination as well as a tourist hotspot, The Cavern Club is a staple of Mathew Street’s nightlife.
Not only the place where The Beatles’ musical identity was formed, but where artists such as Adele, Gerry Marsden and Oasis have played.
The club has a 4.5 rating on Trip Advisor.
Review: “I sang at the Cavern - well along with everyone else! We went on a Monday afternoon and it was crowded - with great music and people of every nationality singing along to all the Beatles hits. Larger and more fun than we anticipated. TOTALLY BRILLIANT!”

The Grapes

Another of The Beatles’ favourite hangouts, The Grapes is a hub for fans looking for a pint on any given day.
The pub recently underwent a huge refurbishment which saw it ‘restored to its former glory’, with its fireplaces and exposed brick walls
Review: “Been in here a few times over the years, and a few owners, never disappoints, great beer, crack with locals fantastic, local history without the tourist prices, Highly Recommended.”

SGT Peppers
Right next door to The Cavern, SGT Peppers is an award-winning live music venue showcasing more than 70 hours of live music each week.
The bar has a 4.5 rating on Trip Advisor.
Review: “The music there is amazing! Live bands every night (at least Friday and Saturday, the days I went) good environment, security everywhere and normal prices. Draught beer £4.5, cocktails £6-7. Fun time there, I really recommend it.”

Eric’s
Another popular Rubber Soul Complex haunt, Eric’s is famous on Mathew Street.
The bar has a 4.5 rating on Trip Advisor and frequently has live music on throughout the day.
Review: “All I can say is wow and thank you, such an amazing atmosphere and the live music was great!!! The beer is a good price and the staff are fabulous, we had a great time and will return.”

Flanagan’s Apple

Another famous Mathew Street bar, Flanagan’s Apple has a 4.0 rating on Trip Advisor.
The bar underwent a huge refurbishment earlier this year which saw the venue given a whole new look and feel - while retaining its traditional Flanagan’s atmosphere.
Review: “Fantastic place to eat, drink and enjoy the atmosphere. The food was amazing and excellent value for money. The drinks are well priced and the staff made you feel very welcome and went out of their way to help you.
“If you visit Liverpool you MUST visit this pub and enjoy the experience of Matthew Street and all the other surrounding pubs.”

Rubber Soul Beatles Bar

Part of the famous Rubber Soul complex, the bar is dedicated to The Beatles and has a 3.5 rating on Trip Advisor.
Review: "Lovely place if a bit 'spit and sawdust' , staff lovely very helpful. Drinks great prices, handy when visiting 'Beatles Land'. Only downside - not many seats. Well worth a visit."

Hardy’s Bar
A nightclub known for its impressive tunes and having customers dance their socks off.

Review: “Called in on a Friday night ... really good atmosphere with everyone dancing about .... the tunes were amazing .... the DJ certainly knew what to play .... we had a ball.”

Kaiserkeller
Another of the famous Rubber Soul Complex bars, Kaiserkeller serves up all things beer - and you can dance on the benches.
The bar is inspired by The Beatles’ famous 1960 trip to Hamburg and has a 4.0 rating on Trip Advisor.
Review: “This place is great for a group night out when you want to let your hair down! Set out with bier keller style benches and serving beer by the stein, with a great house act covering a wide range of popular music, much of it embellished with an oompah beat!
“The trumpet playing is worth going for in itself!
“You can get up and dance on the benches (but not the tables, as that would be silly).
"Great atmosphere!”

The Tube Bar
One of the cheesiest bars Liverpool has to offer.
The bar is dedicated to all things 70s, 80s, 90s and 00s and offers a throwback night to remember.

Review: “Overall really nice vibe, literally feels like 80’s. Great music, fast bar staff, fantastic place for a night out.”

Flares
Undoubtedly one of the most famous places on Mathew Street, Flares is a retro bar known for its party atmosphere and disco dancefloor tiles.
The bar has a 4.0 rating on Trip Advisor and is just next door to The Cavern.
Review: “We arranged a booth for my daughters hen do, we traveled from Birmingham a party of 18 and I have to say we had the most amazing time. The drinks package was brilliant - excellent value for money & our own little booth. The staff were brilliant. Nothing was too much trouble - fully recommend a night out in here.”
