In Alan Wake 2, PlayStation 5 Pro owners will be able to see more advanced ray-traced reflections, in water and glass shop fronts. There’s also a new 60 frames-per-second mode, one better-looking than that of the original PlayStation 5.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s team has talked about how the PlayStation 5 Pro lets them bring the visual quality of the old “fidelity” mode up to 60 frames per second.
The video’s commentary also gives you an idea about why you won’t tend to hear about a doubling of frame rates from old high-graphics modes, because there’s more to the upgrade than just an increase in graphics power.
Digital Foundry has shared an early look at the PlayStation 5 Pro enhanced version of original PS5 graphical showcase Demon’s Souls.
The new PS5 Pro graphics mode looks sharper than the old modes, much like a 4K image. There’s new shadow tech, too, making the game’s environments appear grimmer than ever.
Once again, we can thank Digital Foundry for their verdict on Final Fantasy VII Rebirth on PlayStation 5 Pro.
It is “vastly improved” and is far less soft than the original version, they say. You may notice a bit of image break-up, caused by the new console’s upscaling engine, but it’s far better than what we got before.
Sony’s own sizzle reel also includes footage from additional titles, including The Last of Us Part II Remastered and Dragon’s Dogma II.
The PlayStation 5 Pro is still listed as available to order for a delivery on or around Friday, November 7, when it is finally released.
It costs £699, and you’ll need to pay an extra £99.99 for a disc drive if you prefer to purchase physical copies of games. At the moment, this additional part appears to be much harder to get hold of than the console itself.
