All of the Michelin-starred restaurants in Scotland as two new spots are added

With the Michelin Guide GB & Ireland awarding its Michelin Stars for 2022, the Scottish restaurant scene was delighted to see two new additions.

The influential guide, which has just released this year's version online only due to the pandemic, awarded 194 Michelin Stars with 19 of them being new restaurants to receive the award in the UK.

Mark Donald, who runs the Glenturret Lalique in Crieff and Graeme Cheevers at Unalome in Glasgow have both been added to the guide for the first time.

That means Scotland now has a total of 10 restaurants with one or more Michelin stars.

Speaking about the Michelin achievement, Chef Mark Donald, who won the star just seven months after the opening of Lalique at the Glenturret Distillery in Crieff, said: “I am so proud that Michelin have acknowledged the hard work, creativity and dedication from my team - and everyone at The Glenturret.

"Our Scottish heritage and surroundings are vital to the heart and soul of the restaurant.”

Posting on Twitter about their win, Graeme Cheevers and the Unalome team wrote: "Words can’t express the gratitude and pride felt today throughout our entire team."

The Michelin Starred restaurants in Scotland

Scotland lost two stars since last year, with the Isle of Eriska and the Number One at the Balmoral both now no longer having the award.

Auchterarder

The only restaurant to have two Michelin Stars, the late, great Andrew Fairlie's restaurant at Gleneagles is one of Scotland's most renowned.

Glasgow

Unalome by Graeme Cheevers (new addition)

Unalome is acclaimed Scottish chef Graeme Cheevers' first solo venture and only the second restaurant in Glasgow to win a star in almost 20 years.

The Michelin team said: "Bold, sophisticated dishes display his classical leanings, as he uses his considerable culinary skills to pay respect to the finest of Scottish produce."

Cail Bruich

Glasgow's Cail Bruich was the first venue in the city to earn the award after Gordon Ramsay's Amaryllis, which was the last one to hold one, closed in 2004. (Cail Bruich)

Last year, h ead chef Lorna McNee was delighted to learn that not only had her restaurant Cail Bruich received a star but also that she was now the first female chef to have been awarded one in the city.

It's the first time a venue in the city has earned the coveted award after Gordon Ramsay's Amaryllis, which was the last one to hold one, closed in 2004.

Crieff

The Glenturret Lalique

Found within the grounds of Scotland's oldest working whisky distillery in Perthshire, this restaurant is as luxurious as the glassmaker that gives it its name. Only opened seven months, chef Mark Donald has helped it to win a Michelin star.

The Michelin team said: "The precisely crafted, modern dishes have a clean, delicate look and great depth of flavour, and many are finished at the table."

In total, 122 restaurants have been awarded a Bib Gourmand in 2022, with two new entries being added for Scotland.
