All jobs lost at Scottish manufacturing firm after 50 years in business

AROUND 40 staff members are to be made redundant this summer when a Scottish manufacturing firm closes after 50 years.

All jobs are to be lost at Eclipse Blinds, based in Inchinnan, Renfrewshire which opened more than 50 years ago.

Trade union Unite confirmed the news that the factory will close in June.

The firm, bought over by Dutch company Hunter Douglas — the largest window blind company in the world — in 2022 as part of a £15.5m deal, and has been operating since 1970.

It manufactures various types of blinds and curtains, and the factory site includes includes offices, design and development, warehousing and distribution, and a finishing plant.

Unite industrial officer, Lorna Glen, said: “Unite can confirm that Eclipse Blinds site in Inchinnan will close at the end of June.

“It’s devastating news for everyone and we know that some workers have been there for over 30 years.

“Unite is working hard to represent our members to ensure that they secure the best possible redundancy package and are supporting workers throughout the process.”
