All candidates for Michigan House of Representatives District 65 complete Ballotpedia’s Candidate Connection survey

Both of the candidates running in the November 8, 2022, general election for Michigan House of Representatives District 65 —Mark Lingeman (D) and Jaime Greene (R) — completed Ballotpedia’s Candidate Connection survey. These survey responses allow voters to hear directly from candidates about what motivates them to run for office.

Eighty-eight of the country’s 99 state legislative chambers will hold regularly scheduled elections in 2022. The Republican Party controls both chambers of Michigan’s state legislature. Michigan is one of 13 states under divided government.

Here are excerpts from candidates’ responses to the question: What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Lingeman:

“Voter’s Rights–everything should be done to make voting as easy as possible. Let the people speak through the ballot box. Despite what the Republicans say, voter fraud has been statistically insignificant. The Department of Homeland Security called 2020 the most secure election in history. We did not need over 60 court cases and 90 judges to tell us that. It was a huge waste of taxpayer’s money nationwide.”

Greene:

“As a constitutional conservative, Jaime Greene will fight for your freedoms! She will work to change the Public Health Code to prevent an unelected bureaucrat, acting under the direction of an overreaching Governor, from having complete control over our lives and restore the checks and balances of legislative oversight. Jaime Greene opposes medical mandates and believes that government must never again have the unchecked power to close businesses based on one person’s opinion of what is ‘essential.’”

We ask all federal, state, and local candidates with profiles on Ballotpedia to complete a survey and share what motivates them on political and personal levels. Ask the candidates in your area to fill out the survey.
