Alisson Becker tells Liverpool dressing room response to pressure on Jurgen Klopp

Alisson Becker has revealed how Liverpool's dressing room is reacting to a "tricky season" - as he underlined the faith the squad has in Jurgen Klopp to transform their fortunes.

The Reds have suffered an underwhelming campaign in which their reigns as holders of the League Cup and FA Cup were ended early and they were dumped out of the Champions League with a heavy defeat against Real Madrid in the round of 16.

Liverpool are unlikely to qualify for the competition next season as they stand nine points off the top four with just seven games remaining, and face a battle to secure even a Europa League berth.

However, Klopp's side are on a four-match unbeaten run and could move into fifth place with victory at West Ham United on Wednesday evening.

And Alisson said: "The spirit in the dressing room is one of fighters. It has been a tricky season for us, because we are used to always flying. In the past, everybody's been used to seeing us flying but this is a different moment we are living. We have to deal with things. We are doing that, we are fighting but we have to fight even more and use the qualities we have.

"Sometimes we have caused the problems that we have had on the pitch by not playing well, but at the same time we are the solution too, so it's not as big a problem as it looks because we know what we can do and what we are capable of. We're going to show that we can fight for great things still in a Liverpool shirt."

Liverpool's narrow 3-2 win at home to Nottingham Forest on Saturday followed a thumping 6-1 triumph at Leeds United, which was only the Reds' fourth away Premier League win of the campaign.

This season's underachievement has prompted discussion in some quarters over Klopp's long-term future. Alisson, though, is adamant the squad are unequivocally behind the manager.

"Having him with us is massive," said the goalkeeper, speaking to the official Liverpool matchday programme. "We trust in him. The club trusts in him and that's what the team needs to get out of a tricky situation. So we're going to fight for him, we're going to fight for the supporters, for everybody - for ourselves, for our families, to reach our targets in the rest of the season.

"I don't think we need to talk about the Champions League. Of course it is our big target but first we have to think about our performances and improve them. We have had Thiago, Curtis Jones and Luis Diaz back in recent weeks which has been important as they give power and strength to the team as well as a lot of quality.

"So we have to think game-by-game, step-by-step, and focus on improving our performances, getting the points and returning to the track of winning."
