Alisson Becker has spoken of his frustration after Liverpool missed out on the Premier League title - but admits the disappointment has increased the team's hunger to win the Champions League.
An incredible run of form from January resulted in Liverpoo l taking the domestic title race to the final day of the season with Manchester City leading the way by just a single point going into the last matches.
And for a short time on Sunday, it looked like the championship could be heading to Anfield with City trailing Aston Villa 2-0 at the Etihad. Liverpool, at the time, were being held by Wolves at home after Sadio Mane cancelled out Pedro Neto’s opener, meaning, at that point, they only needed a goal to possibly win the league.

But by the time the Reds scored twice in the final 10 minutes to seal a 3-1 victory - thanks to goals from Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson - Pep Guardiola’s men had turned their own game around to lead Villa 3-2 and clinch the title.
“With 92 points you’d be champions in pretty much all the leagues in the world, but here you aren’t. Sometimes you have to do more,” Allison said after the Wolves match.
“We’re not going to be negative and look at games where we dropped points. Every game in the Premier League is a fight, the standard is so high.”
The Liverpool goalkeeper also revealed that his side were not aware of the score at the Etihad, but thanks to supporters cheering inside Anfield, they knew something was going on.
Alisson said: “We couldn’t be too aware of things that were happening in their game. We were really focused on our match.
“We heard the fans shouting and celebrating a few times, so we knew something had happened. We were really focused on doing our job.
“We got the win and the points, but it wasn’t enough. We’re frustrated because we worked really hard to get the title, but we have to be really proud. Congratulations to Manchester City.”
Liverpool face Real Madrid in the Champions League final in Paris on Saturday night, and Alisson admits the focus will now be on claiming the famous trophy for a seventh time.
“Today we’ll forget that we’re in the Champions League final because it’s frustrating, but from tomorrow we’ll start to think about the final and go on,” he said.
Alisson secured the Premier League Golden Glove award for the 2021/22 campaign. He recorded 20 clean sheets in 36 appearances for the Reds this season to earn the trophy alongside City No.1 and Brazil international team-mate Ederson.
It is the second time Alisson has claimed the annual goalkeeping prize, but when asked about it afterwards, he said: It’s an achievement from the whole team – it’s not just me. I’m happy with the Golden Glove."
