Alisson Becker injury: Liverpool goalkeeper ruled out of Uefa Super Cup vs Chelsea

Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Alisson Becker will miss Liverpool's Uefa Super Cup clash against Chelsea on Wednesday after suffering a calf injury.

Champions League winners Liverpool will take on Europa League winners Chelsea in Instabul next week, but goalkeeper Alisson will play no part after being substituted during the first half of Liverpool's 4-1 win against Norwich City on Friday night.

With Liverpool 3-0 up in the 36th minute of the first Premier League game of the 2019-20 season, Alisson slipped as he was playing the ball out and went down, holding his calf, calling for medical attention.

A stretcher was brought out for the keeper but he was able to leave the field with the help of support staff.

Spanish goalkeeper Adrian, who signed for Liverpool on a free transfer on Monday, came on to make his debut and saw out the game, making a few saves as well as conceding as the Reds went on to win 4-1.

Speaking after the game, Klopp told reporters: "There is actually nothing bad to say about the game apart from Ali’s injury. That is, of course, not good for us, but we have to see how serious it is and then we have to deal with it.

"It’s the calf and that’s it. He couldn’t carry on, that’s not a good sign. We have to see.

"Wednesday [in the Super Cup], he will not play – with all my experience, I can say that already. He is injured, for sure, so we have to see how much."
