Alison Hammond thanks This Morning colleagues Phillip and Holly after career breakthrough

Alison Hammond has given her thanks to her colleagues Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, after they were the ones to break the news a massive career breakthrough which left the This Morning presenter in a state of disbelief.

Alison has been part of the family on the ITV daytime programme for years, initially being its roving celeb reporter, before she and Dermot O'Leary were given the job of being permanent Friday presenters at the start of 2021, taking over from Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford. And it was her showbiz encounters that caught the eye of American TV execs, so much so that a section was devoted to her on an episode of hit US comedy show Tonight with John Oliver this week.

The host introduced the Alison themed montage with the title 'The Delightful Delight of Alison Hammond,' and gave many Stateside viewers their first experience of the former Big Brother contestant. And one of the segment's stand out moments was her interview with Harrison Ford, which saw her burst out laughing after admitting to the movie megastar that she'd never seen Blade Runner.

While Alison wasn't a host on Wednesday' This Morning, she dominated proceedings in the opening moments, as Phillip and Holly delivered news of her American stardom to viewers at home. Holly remarked: Well done! It was only a matter of time!" Phillip added: "That is the biggest show for comedians in America. What a great thing to be on."

A dumbstruck Alison couldn't quite get her head round what happened and shared the clip of the This Morning announcement on her Instagram, writing: "I've broke America...with wait for it...my Laugh. @thismorning thanks holly and phil for the big up."

May of Alison's celebrity pals were quick to react, with Amy Childs commenting: " I bloody love you Alison," and Mrs Hinch responding: " You just bloody make my day! QUEEN"
