Alison Hammond was left in a bit of a fluster as she hit back at her co-star's 'fruity' voice note claims on This Morning. The presenter was back fronting the ITV daytime show on Friday (February 10) alognsdie her co-host, Dermot O'Leary.
The pair were joined early in the two-and-a-half-hour long programme by Gyles Brandreth and Ateh Jewel as they chatted through the latest news headlines and other interesting stories in 'This Morning's View'. Following conversations on the more serious topics in the news at the moment, the hosts returned to lighter matters and more specifically, how to keep the spark alive in relationships.
With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, Gyles suggested that viewers should write more love notes to their partners. It was then he commented that the next best thing to a handwritten note is an intimate voice note.
It is then that he appeared to expose Alison's use of the function. Alison started the discussion by saying: "I like voice notes, don’t you?" to which royal expert Gyles then cheekily responded: "Language is power. Language is what defines us. Last week you left me a voice note do you remember? It was lovely, and to listen to it [was amazing].
"There was a problem with it, of course. My wife said, ‘Who are you talking to?’ because she didn’t realise how intimate you can be, a little bit fruity." As the studio erupted into laughter, Alison appeared surprised by the revelation as she insisted: "No I didn't!" before Gyles admitted: "I'm getting a little bit carried away now."
Also during the show, Alison burst into giggles as she shared the story of how she once met Rihanna. The 48-year-old and co-host Dermot, 49, were joined on the programme by Alison's former Big Brother star pal Kate Lawler who was on hand to bring viewers the latest showbiz gossip.
As they chatted about the upcoming Superbowl, where Rihanna will be performing the half-time show, Alison shared her anecdote about bumping in to the Umbrella and Diamonds singer. "I saw her on a flight," Alison said as Kate asked: "Was she in economy?" Alison continued: "Well what happened right - no seriously, my seat broke!'
She and Dermot broke out into laughter, before Kate quipped: "What is it with you and breaking things!" Carrying on with her tale, Alison explained: "No, the seat was broken so they upgraded me to first class. Next thing I know, I've got Ri Ri in front of me, I've got Jennifer Hudson behind me, it was unbelievable, honestly. That was the first time I went in first class."
