Alison Hammond's This Morning return confirmed amid 'upset' over Eamonn Holmes comment

Alison Hammond has been confirmed to return to This Morning on Friday, amid her apparent upset at a comment Eamonn Holmes made about her friendship with colleague Holly Willoughby.

After years of being a roving reporter and competition presenter for This Morning, Alison was handed a huge promotion on the ITV show at the start of 2021, when she and Dermot O'Leary were made full time Friday hosts, in place of Eamonn and wife Ruth Langsford; months before Eamonn then quit This Morning and ITV for good, making a switch to GB News.

Eamonn has been very vocals about both Holly and her now ex co-star Phillip Schofield over the last month, in light of the scandal surrounding Phillip and his admission of an affair with a much younger This Morning runner. He accused Phillip and Holly of 'faking' their friendship for cameras, before saying that Holly 'got what she wanted' with Phillip leaving and picking apart her statement about his exit, saying the humour and knowledge she thanked him for, were things she didn't have.

Eamonn then took aim at Holly over her relationship with Alison, accusing Holly of 'using' her fellow presenter and alleging she'd wanted 'nothing to do with her' for years. And insiders have since claimed that Eamonn's remarks really got to Alison.

"The last thing Holly wants is to fall out with Alison over this," a source told Heat magazine. Alison was really upset by her name getting mentioned in his interview. She’s heartbroken that Eamonn would drag her into this. She’s always got on with Holly."

As Dermot came to the end of his first four shows as Holly's latest co-host, he confirmed that Alison would be back on Friday, weeks after she broke down on screen, having watched Phillip's candid interview with the BBC. talking about it on This Morning, she said: "'I was finding it really painful because obviously, you know, I loved Phillip Schofield, and it's weird because I still love Phillip Schofield.

"However what he's done is wrong, he's admitted it, he's said sorry. But as a family we're all really struggling to process everything."
