TV star Dermot O'Leary was in hysterics as his This Morning co-star Alison Hammond realised a dream of making her signature dish on the daytime show. The duo fronted the show on Friday, July 7, as Alison led the cooking segment, stepping into the shoes of the likes of James Martin and Gino D'Acampo.
The 48-year-old presenter shared her 'Brummie bolognese' on air, Birmingham Live reports. She said: "Before I actually made this recipe, I dreamt it. I went to bed and I saw this, I was actually like: 'I'm going to one day do this on This Morning'. And now, my dreams are actually happening right now on the telly making my spaghetti lasagne."
During the segment, Alison mixed in her store-bought red and white sauce into the spaghetti. Dermot begged: "Please, stop putting it on camera!" Alison replied: "Listen, it works, right! You're not going to see that bit till later!"
She added: "Listen, it's very pressurising cooking on telly!" After she wrapped up in the kitchen, she dished up for Dermot to taste. He said: "I have to say Alison, apart from the strange bit in the middle [of the cooking segment], it's really tasty! Well done, thank you so much. It's Alison Hammond everyone!"
The studio then erupted into applause as Alison basked in their acclaim. The mum-of-one's antics will prepare her for her new role in the Great British Bake Off tent on Channel 4 later this year. Alison is set to replace Matt Lucas on the show in August when it returns.
Alison has stepped in to host alongside co-presenter Noel Fielding, while Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith continue to judge.
