Alison Hammond mortified after 'ruining' This Morning

Alison Hammond was left embarrassed during Monday's This Morning when she struggled to get her words out.

The TV presenter was back at the helm of the daytime show alongside Dermot O'Leary. Regular hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield are taking a well-earned Christmas break, though they will be back on our screens on the big day itself for a special pre-recorded episode.

During Monday's programme, Alison revealed she will be having Christmas dinner with fellow This Morning star Josie Gibson. She told Dermot: "It's a lot, but I'm in talks with Josie and she said she's gonna do dinner this year.

"So I'm gonna go to her house, I'm not doing anything. It's great". Dermot replied: "Sweet", before Alison realised viewers had been ignored for a few minutes and said: "Anyway, we diverse".

Noticing her mistake she quickly said: "We diverse? We digress". Reading the auto-cue, she continued: "We were wondering, who might be able to chill out the nation? And chill might be the opt... the word of the day. Oh gosh".

Placing her head in her hands, she added: "I'm ruining this" before bursting into laughter. Dermot explained Alison was supposed to say the "operative" word.

Fans watching at home were loving the interaction. Taking to Twitter, Emma said: "Alison Hammond must be protected at all costs". Michelle said: "Alison is amazing", while Gill said: "This Morning is so much fun today".
