Alison Hammond makes bid to replace David Walliams on Britain's Got Talent

Alison Hammond would love to replace David Walliams on Britain's Got Talent.

The This Morning star was joined by Dermot O'Leary as she interviewed his old X Factor boss Simon Cowell on the ITV lunchtime show today. During the chat, she begged for X Factor to make a return and floated the idea of Dermot O'Leary hosting a possible reboot.

Dermot then paid the favour back and suggested Alison would be a great judge if anyone needed a replacement, or that she would be perfect for a role as an extra judge. Simon also gave his verdict on the idea.

Joking about replacing Dermot as presenter on The X Factor if it was to come back, Alison said she'd make a great stand in, before confirming she was backing her friend to be the host instead. "Dermot is the only person who can do the show," he said

"I have to say this as well Simon," Dermot then added, "Talking BGT, if you need an extra judge, I couldn't endorse her more. This one would literally bring the house down in the Palladium." She jumped up excitedly and asked Simon what he thought of the idea.

He then replied to say: "We've had this conversation before. I love Alison, you know that."

David was forced to apologise earlier this year after comments he made about contestants on the ITV show were leaked.

A leaked transcript from the ITV show saw that David made crude references about one woman and called a pensioner a 'c***' during filming for Britain's Got Talent back in 2020. David - who has been a judge on BGT since 2012 - apologised for making 'disrespectful comments', which were made during breaks for filming the show.

"David has decided to bow out after a ten-year run. He wants to leave on a high after a wonderful time," an insider told The Sun about the TV star's decision, "Being on the show has been a huge source of entertainment and joy for him and he is arguably the most popular member of the panel. David has decided to bow out after a ten-year run. He wants to leave on a high after a wonderful time."

A BGT spokesperson confirmed to The Mirror: "The judging panel for 2023 will be announced in due course."

His co-stars Amanda Holden, 51, Alesha Dixon, 44, and Simon Cowell, 63, are all expected to return to the show. Simon would not be drawn on who might replace David, or if he was leaving at all but said Alison was a great friend.
