Alison Hammond forced to wear glasses after This Morning autocue blunder

Alison Hammond welcomed a change to the camera set-up on This Morning on Thursday, as she struggled to read the autocue.

After stumbling on her words, she confessed to viewers and co-host Phillip Schofield that she needed her glasses as she "didn't know what was wrong with her".

Alison soon ditched the lenses though when Phil asked the camera crew to bring the equipment closer, so that the autocue was nearer to Alison.

She claimed this was much better and proceeded to read from it, only to stumble on her words yet again sending her into hysterics.

Phil mocked the moment telling her the studio change-up made no difference, with an amused Alison putting her glasses back on.

Alison had slipped up her words at the start of the show, confessing she got them all muddled up as she read from the device.

But it was later in the show she felt the need to explain to viewers watching at home why she was suddenly wearing her glasses.

She said as the show returned from an advert break: "Welcome back to This Morning, now you're not seeing double.

"I've actually got my glasses on because I couldn't see, I couldn't see the autocue today. I don't know what's the matter with me. So I thought I'd let you know."

Phillip then said: "Do you want it to come a bit closer?" as she told him: "No, it's fine."

He told the team: "Creep right in there, in you come team, creep in, don't be shy. It's fine, closer, closer, come right in."

Alison joked she didn't want viewers to see her wrinkles, as Phil went on: "Much more intimate, there you go, there you go. No one is gonna notice that massive camera in shot there."

She told him and viewers: "That is so much better, thank you so much... oh it's a bit close, no that's too close. It's so much better thank you so much."

Taking off her glasses, she then went to read from it and once agin stumbled, as the word 'qualified' defeated her.

As Alison laughed hysterically, Phil told her: "That didn't help then did it," as she responded: "I'm putting them back on."

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
