Alison Hammond breaks rule by sharing career news on ITV This Morning after 'not being allowed'

Alison Hammond appears to have broken the rules during her recent appearance on This Morning. The presenter was back at the helm of the ITV daytime show on Friday alongside co-host Dermot O'Leary.

It was the second time we've seen Alison on the programme this week after she stepped in on Monday for the Bank Holiday edition of the show. She was joined by Craig Doyle who made his This Morning hosting debut, but it was back to normal today (Friday) with Alison and Dermot back together where they belong.

They appeared to welcome viewers to the show when the sound of Michael Gray's The Weekend began playing out in the studio. "I didn't know this music was coming," Dermot said as the pair threw a few shapes alongside guest and resident vet Dr Scott Mille. "We didn't know, we haven't rehearsed anything," the presenter contained before adding: "It's gone quickly this week, hasn't it? Lightning."

Alison then said: "Good morning, welcome to ITV This Morning, good morning Dermot, good morning my lovely viewers," but the show had barely started when she said: "I have done something..."

"I'm not sure whether I am allowed to say. I am not sure. Basically, I have a book coming out," Alison revealed, seemingly breaking the show's rules before instructing those watching at home: "Go on my Instagram and everything will be there." Dermot replied: "Everything's on there. You can find everything out there. But it's exciting."

Alison teased her news alongside Dermot O'Leary (ITV)

Earlier this week the 47-year-old took to Instagram to share her latest exciting career news. Alongside a 30-second promotional clip for her new venture, Alison said: "Introducing my new children’s book, BLACK IN TIME! From sportspeople to scientists, activists to musicians, politicians to writers, we're going to meet a whole bunch of AWESOME Black people who have helped shape the world we live in.

"I'll also introduce you to people making waves right here and now! Including @nicolaadams @malorie_blackman @shekukannehmason @adrian_lester @andipeter @jjenas @dinaashersmith and Olivette Otele." She then added: "Are ready for your journey Black in time?? Course you are. Out June 9th. Available to pre-order now. Cover illustrations by @tinuke.illustration. With thanks to @elnorry_writer fact-finder and writer extra-ordinaire."

The much-loved TV star was quickly flooded with support. Singer Jamelia commented: "Alison!! This is amazing!! We’ll done love!!" as former Big Brother winner Kate Lawler said: "Wow love this Ali! Can’t wait to buy for Tayto." Dermot, 48, also shared his support, sharing Alison's video to his own Instagram Story and writing: "Great work @alisonhammond55 x."
