Alison Hammond breaks ITV This Morning rule minutes into show

Alison Hammond did something that she wasn't sure if she "was allowed" to do on today's This Morning.

Taking the helm of the ITV talk show in her normal Friday morning slot, the presenter was joined by Dermot O'Leary. It was the second time we've seen Alison on the programme this week after she stepped in on Monday for the Bank Holiday edition of the show.

Excitement hit the studio from the get go as it was introduced with Michael Gray's The Weekend. The hosts danced to the music alongside guest and resident vet Dr Scott Mille.

Alison then introduced the show properly, as she said: "Good morning, welcome to ITV This Morning, good morning Dermot, good morning my lovely viewers."

But then she wanted to introduce her next career venture. She said: "I have done something..."

She seemingly broke the show's rules as she continued: "I'm not sure whether I am allowed to say. I am not sure. Basically, I have a book coming out. Go on my Instagram and everything will be there."

Dermot supported his friend and co-worker as he added: "Everything's on there. You can find everything out there. But it's exciting."

The 47-year-old took to Instagram to share more in depth details of her new venture. She posted a 30-second promotional clip for her new book.

Captioning the post, Alison said: "Introducing my new children’s book, BLACK IN TIME! From sportspeople to scientists, activists to musicians, politicians to writers, we're going to meet a whole bunch of AWESOME Black people who have helped shape the world we live in.

"I'll also introduce you to people making waves right here and now! Including @nicolaadams @malorie_blackman @shekukannehmason @adrian_lester @andipeter @jjenas @dinaashersmith and Olivette Otele.

"Are ready for your journey Black in time?? Course you are. Out June 9th. Available to pre-order now. Cover illustrations by @tinuke.illustration. With thanks to @elnorry_writer fact-finder and writer extra-ordinaire."

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV and the ITV Hub
