Alison Hammond appears to have poked a bit of fun at her This Morning co-stars ahead of her big return to the show this week. The presenter and her co-host Dermot O'Leary haven't been seen at the helm of the ITV daytime show for weeks.
The pair usually host the popular programme every Friday but after a two-week stint hosting the show in July as they kicked off the several weeks of summer, Alison and Dermot haven't been seen since. However, that's all set to change this Friday (September 9) as the duo will be back.
It comes after Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield returned to the show on Monday (September 5) after enjoying their long summer break. But prior to their on-screen reunion, the show's main hosts enjoyed an off-screen 'play date'.
Holly was the first to share a snap of the duo, beaming for the camera. Phillip looked chilled as he donned a white t-shirt while Holly also appeared fresh-faced in a black shirt with her blonde locks tied back with a few strands framing her face. "Well look who came over for a play date before school starts… " the mum-of-three penned alongside the snap to her millions of followers.
She then added: "See you on Monday @schofe @thismorning … I’ve missed you!!!!! Can’t wait to see you all!!!!" Phillip also shared the photo of the pair with his own millions of followers but let them in on a little worry he has before he gets back to work next week. First, he gushed: "Now that was fun!! The best day with my bestie [heart emojis] love you to bits @hollywilloughby."
And it seems Alison wanted to get in on the pre-show reunions. But it appears Dermot may not have been available. Taking to Instagram the 47-year-old posted a selfie of herself alongside an unknown person in a mask of Dermot's face. "Well look who came over for a play date before school starts," Alison penned, mimicking Holly's post from last week.
She then added: "See you on Friday @dermotoleary @thismorning …I’ve missed you !!!!! can’t wait to see you all!!!!" Alison also tagged Holly, 41, and Phillip, 60, who clearly saw the funny side as they both posted a string of crying laughing emojis to the comments section.
Rochelle Humes and Josie Gibson, who have stepped in to host the show over the summer, also copied Holly and Phillip's response while Dermot, 49, wrote: "Handsome devil." And This Morning's resident vet Dr Scott replied: "You are ridiculous," with a crying laughing emoji and red heart, proving he wasn't being serious.
Fans also picked up on the joke and were soon sharing their joy at Alison and Dermot's impending return. @sue.taylor.9 said: "Oh so missed you two too!!!!!" @julierob157 commented: "Wow thank god your back. You 2 are so much fun. Cannot wait." @lilley4248 added: "Yay look forward to seeing you both."
