Big Brother alums Alison Hammond and Emma Willis have weighed in on the reports that ITV is set to relaunch Big Brother next year.
In a move that will surely excite dedicated fans of the iconic show, producers are reportedly in talks to introduce the show on the channel.
However, current rumoured plans for the new series won't feature celebs and will go back to its original roots with ordinary members of the public.
Bosses are contemplating airing the series on ITV2 in autumn 2023 after Love Island, it has been claimed.
This Morning host Alison, who appeared in the third series of the reality TV show when she was just 27-years-old, sat down with Big Brother winner and former presenter Emma on Tuesday’s This Morning.
While Emma said she “genuinely knows absolutely nothing” about the rumoured relaunch, Alison and co-host Dermot O’Leary appeared to be more in-the-know and admitted they have been chatting about who should present in recent days.
While Alison said she believes the show should get “something totally new” to present, Dermot was not in agreement and seemed to volunteer his own services as he said: “It would be a great gig, what’s the matter with you!”
Alison replied: “To get an unknown though, that would be amazing. Otherwise it’s just like it's coming from Channel 4 to ITV. I think it needs to be a real refresh and look completely different.”
Emma agreed, saying she thinks it should be “new era, new host” as Alison admitted that Dermot could present the spin-off show.
The ground-breaking show, which put people in a house together and recorded them day and night, was originally presented by Davina McCall and ended in 2018, after many memorable moments.
Big Brother was first launched on Channel 4 and then on Channel 5, launching the careers of household names such as Jade Goody and Josie Gibson.
Emma said of Big Brother that she misses how “real” it was, adding: “I miss it so much. I think we all know how much we all love it, but I do think it needs longer. It needs a bit more of a rest I think.
“If you go back to day dot when it first started and how it just took all of us by storm. It was just phenomenal. If it can do that again and go back to that, it would be amazing.”
Radio presenter and former X Factor star Rylan Clark is said to be on a shortlist for hosting the ITV version.
This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV and ITV Hub.
