Alfredo Morelos is OUT of Sunday’s Old Firm clash with Celtic at Ibrox.
And the star striker is - also likely to miss both legs of the Europa League quarter final clash against Braga with a "long term" injury.
Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst has confirmed the news most fans were dreading after photos emerged of him on crutches on Thursday.
Morelos was sent home crocked by Colombia last week due to “muscle overload” and was immediately in a race to be fit for the massive derby.
Rangers trail their fierce rivals – who have declared their own star man Kyogo Furuhashi fit – by three points going into the game.
Morelos has scored 18 goals in all competitions this season but has notched just two against Celtic during his time at Ibrox.
Van Bronckhorst said: "Alfredo unfortunately had a new injury while on duty with Colombia so he won't be available for this Sunday.
"I think we will lose him for a longer time. It is a long term injury but we don't know how long yet.
"We will assess him in the next few days but he's out for Sunday. We won't have him back in the next couple of weeks."
Van Bronckhorst was in bullish mood, though – despite the Morelos hammer blow.
He added: "With the remaining games anything can happen. It may go all the way to the end of the season.
"We need to start with winning this game on Sunday. It is a challenge but we embrace the challenge."
