Alfredo Morelos Rangers exit predicted by John Hartson as he makes Europe 'gone backwards' admission

John Hartson is in no doubt Alfredo Morelos will LEAVE Rangers in the summer.

The Light Blues striker has found himself in and out of Giovanni van Bronckhorst's starting team this season after a number of issues at the start of the campaign. At the end of last season he suffered an injury that required surgery before he was left out of the travelling squad for the crucial Champions League play-off tie with PSV.

Summer recruit Antonio Colak has come in the door and hit the ground running with a stunning return of 14 goals in 22 games in all competition with 11 out of 12 in the Premiership as Rangers bid to win the league crown back from Celtic this term. Morelos is out of contract in the summer along with fellow fans' favourite and key man Ryan Kent. The duo yet to come to an agreement over fresh terms at the Ibrox side.

Both will be able to pen a pre-contract with interested clubs come January 1 and with his place in the team not a guarantee - as it previously was under Steven Gerrard - Celtic hero Hartson believes that could signal the end of the Colombian's stay in Glasgow.

Speaking to Go Radio about the striker and his current situation, Hartson said: "He's in and out isn't he. He's looking at [Antonio] Colak and thinking the manager doesn't really.

"[Alfredo] Morelos in the period that he has been at Rangers, he's been the number one striker. [Steven] Gerrard fancied him and played him all the time. He's got over 100 goals. Give him credit for that.

"He's unpredictable but now when you see another striker coming in, he plays now in fits and starts. He wants to be No1. It's affecting him. It's affecting his confidence.

"His contract is up at the end of the season and there is no doubt for me he will leave because he's not playing regular at this moment in time.

"They have got other problems as well with [Ryan] Kent with his contract running down. Arguably two of the best Rangers players in the last four or five years. Best performers and getting them to the Europa League Final last season.

"In terms of how far they have dropped, particularly in Europe. I know it is different the Europa League and Champions League but some of the performances show they have not moved forward and almost gone backwards."
