Alfredo Morelos Rangers exit pathway as Mexican club add striker to transfer wish list amid condition question

Alfredo Morelos may have been offered a pathway to leave Rangers with Mexican club Tigres reportedly keen on the striker.

The Colombian has been at the centre of a storm this season at Ibrox, having had fitness and injury concerns under the reign of Gio Van Bronckhorst that saw the forward left out of crucial league and Champions League action. Morelos, however, has seen an upturn in form under new boss Michael Beale but questions have still been aimed at the 26-year-old over his fitness.

Yet in contractual terms, Morelos is in the final year of his Ibrox deal and facing an exit from Glasgow should interested parties wish to pen a pre-contract agreement this month. It appears links to clubs have been quiet by now the Mexican outfit have reportedly identified Morelos on their transfer wish list.

According to TeleDiario, Morelos joins the likes of Rangers' Europa League final tormentor Rafael Borre on the list of targets for the club. The Ibrox hitman was previously linked to La Liga side Sevilla but reports were denied in Glasgow.

But pundits and fans alike have weighed in to the striker's current condition ahead of a potential move with James McFadden blasting the forward claiming that he did not heed the warning delivered to him by Dutch boss Van Bronckhorst.

He told Open Goal: "He had the warning at the start of the season with Gio (Giovanni van Bronckhorst). He said: 'I can't have him in the squad if he's not fit' and for a player that is embarrassing. If a manager says that then that's all the motivation that a player needs.

"He might turn around and say 'I'm training hard' but if you watch a game back, and you see the strip is tight and you see the shape through the strip then you need to do more."
