Alfredo Morelos 'ramps up' Rangers transfer pressure as Sevilla play waiting game to land striker for NOTHING

Rangers outcast Alfredo Morelos has piled the pressure on the club to sell him before the end of the summer window with Sevilla reportedly waiting in the wings.

Gio van Bronckhorst has left the Colombian out of the squad jetting out of Glasgow for the crucial Champions League playoff round second leg with PSV Eindhoven, just days after the frontman was shown a straight red card against Hibs. The call to leave him out is based on the Morelos' attitude and fitness levels so far this season rather than a response to the Scottish Premiership flashpoint.

The Ibrox boss has told the player to prove to him he is "mentally and physically" ready to play for Rangers after leaving him out of the squad that jetted out to The Netherlands. However, the frontman is thought to be looking elsewhere as he attempts to push for a move away from Govan.

The Athletic report that the 26-year-old decided to change agents earlier this year having failed to secure a move to a Champions League or English Premier League club in January. Morelos opened up his agency representation to a Spanish-based company which has led to interest from Sevilla.

The La Liga side appear to be in no rush to land the striker, and it's claimed they will hold out until they can land him on pre-contract this winter after Morelos entered the final year of his deal. Van Bronckhorst had stated Rangers had held "positive" talks with the player over an extension.

Talks over an agreement have gone quiet though and nn the wake of sensationally dropping Morelos from the European squad travelling to Eindhoven, those talks will have been put on hold. The Ibrox side may look to cash in on their record European goalscorer before September with Sevilla lying in wait.
