Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos will not return for Rangers until next season.
The Colombian returned early from Colombia international duty in the recent break with his home federation revealing a "muscular injury" to his thigh.
And he was then ruled out for at least "a few weeks" by manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
That meant he missed out during Sunday's derby defeat at home to Celtic as the side struggled in his absence.
Now a statement from Ibrox has revealed he will return to training in pre-season after undergoing surgery, with the medical team "pleased with the outcome".
It read: "Following an injury sustained whilst on international duty with Colombia, Alfredo Morelos has undergone surgery to his thigh.
"Our medical team are pleased with the outcome of the operation and his rehabilitation programme is underway.
"He will return to training with the first team squad during pre season. We wish him well during his rehabilitation."
