Alfredo Morelos in Rangers strop over sub decision but Barry Ferguson sees the positives of striker's rage

Alfredo Morelos was left fuming with the decision to take him off in Rangers' League Cup Final defeat to Celtic – but Barry Ferguson didn't mind that.

The Colombian and his team-mates were left dismayed by Kyogo racing the holders into a 2-0 lead but he restored parity with his third goal against Celtic. A corner into the box was not dealt with by Ange Postecoglou's men and he lashed home to cut the Viaplay Cup showpiece deficit.

It wasn't enough to keep him on the park though with Michael Beale's side still chasing a goal to fully get back into this match and was hooked for Antonio Colak. That decision didn't go down well with Morelos, who as spotted by the Viaplay cameras booting out at a box with drinks near the dugouts as he made his way to the subs’ bench. Rangers had their rivals on the ropes at that stage in the game but the forward was left fizzing he couldn't have any more impact, eventually leaving with a runners-up medal.

Record Sport columnist and former Rangers captain Ferguson didn't see too much Hampden impact from Morelos outside his goal. But the kick out was something he was impressed by.

He explained on Go Radio: "I thought he had a pretty quiet game to be honest with you, he scored his goal and you could see he wasn't too happy when getting taken off. A lot of people might make a lot of that.

"I would rather see a player upset when he is getting taken off. Rather than just sauntering up to the bench and putting your coat on and not bothering. In terms of Rangers as a whole, they just didn't do enough to win the Cup."
