Alfredo Morelos in Rangers 'massive bonus' claim as Colombian 'desperate' for major Ibrox milestone

Sir Kenny Dalglish believes Alfredo Morelos' return from injury is a major boost for Rangers ahead of their European date with destiny.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst's men take on Belgian club Union-Saint Gilloise in Champions League third round qualifying action on Tuesday night, one week on from a tough 2-0 first leg loss away from home. They need to overturn a major deficit and have been buoyed in doing so by their Colombian talisman returning.

Morelos appeared off the bench for the first time in five month to score the winner during Saturday's 2-0 Premiership victory versus Kilmarnock. Dalglish writes in the Sunday Post his involvement could be pivotal: "It looks as though Alfredo Morelos will be available for selection for this game, and that will be a massive bonus. Asking him to play from the start after so long out injured will probably be too big an ask.

"But he could be extremely useful with 20 or 25 minutes to go. The Colombian has vast experience, and is desperate to play in the Champions League group stage for the first time.

"He just might have a huge role to play on Tuesday. I hope Rangers go through, and can also get past Monaco or PSV Eindhoven in the play-off."

Van Bronckhorst is delighted with the forward's timely return after he nipped in at the backpost to finish Kilmarnock off. Number nine Antonio Colak had opened scoring in the cagey affair.
