Alfredo Morelos breaks Rangers silence on final Celtic cameo snub as outgoing striker delivers cryptic message

Outgoing Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos has broken his silence after the frontman was denied the chance to make a final appearance against Celtic.

The Colombian was handed a spot on the bench at Ibrox against Ange Postecoglou's side just days after Michael Beale had confirmed he would leave the Light Blues at the end of his contract this summer - while admitting that the frontman's performance levels had dipped. With Rangers cruising to a 3-0 victory over the Scottish Premiership champions, many had expected Morelos to be given the chance to send a parting shot against Celtic with a cameo off the bench.

The 26-year-old has netted just three goals against the Hoops since arriving at Ibrox back in 2017 - but Beale opted against giving Morelos the chance to add to that tally as he looked to the future of the Rangers side. Youngsters Alex Lowry and Zak Lovelace were among the substitutes late in the derby drubbing.

After being left on the sidelines during the game, Morelos took to social media on Sunday night to address the situation in a cryptic Instagram message. Sharing a snap wearing a Rangers kit and celebrating a previous strike, Morelos added the caption: "Only faith in my god."

Morelos has been linked with the likes of Sevilla and Fenerbahce when his contract expires this summer. He will hope to have the chance to add to his 12 goals netted this term before the curtain comes down on the league season.
