Alfredo Morelos banished from Rangers squad as contract talks 'on hold' after 'commitment concerns'

Alfredo Morelos has been left out of Rangers' squad for their Champions League showdown with PSV, according to a report.

Sky Sports News claim Giovanni van Bronckhorst has decided to leave out the Colombian hitman for the crucial play-off return in the Netherlands tomorrow night due to various concerns including fitness levels and his attitude in the early part of the campaign.

They report that the Dutchman has spoken with a number of senior players within the squad, who have all backed his decision with a huge clash with the Dutch giants to come. Rangers are just potentially 90 minutes away from group stage football and the massive financial benefits that come with reaching Europe's top table. Morelos was brought on as a substitute at Easter Road on Saturday, but was given his marching orders just 13 minutes later by referee Willie Collum, and it is reported that the red card is not the sole reason behind Van Bronckhorst's major call.

Talks over a new deal are currently now on hold according to the report - but the 26-year-old does still have a future at Rangers if he can provide his commitment to the club.

Antonio Colak arrived this summer and has scored four goals in his last five outings. The likes of Tom Lawrence, Malik Tillman and Rabbi Matondo have also pitched up this window to boost the attacking ranks.
