Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent's Rangers ultimatum as club told to sell both on one condition

Rangers have been told to sell both Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent in the January transfer window if neither can agree new contracts before then.

Both attacking players are in the final 12 months of their contracts and performances this season have been lamented. Morelos has netted just twice in 14 games while winger Kent has failed to impress despite an extended run in manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst's side.

Speaking exclusively to Glasgow Live and Cheeky Punter, former Ibrox star Alan Hutton has assessed the state of play when it comes to transfer business at Rangers this January. He reckons some cover at right-back to help Adam Devine develop and allow James Tavernier some rest is needed, a playmaker could arrive and their attacking assets must be moved on before potentially leaving for free. Hutton said: "They could lose two top assets for nothing in Morelos and Kent.

"I would like to see it sorted out with both players, when they are on their game, they are starters and make the team much better. I think it needs sorting before January and if they don't sign before then, you have to look to move them on in that window to get the money that can be reinvested.

"I think they need backup for Tavernier, he's been an unbelievable servant to the club, but he needs competition. His numbers are incredible for a full back but you need competition and rest from time to time.

"Hopefully, Devine will be the guy to take over eventually but he needs to prove that. His bar is very high so when he's out of form it's really noticeable.

"For me they need a creative player in the middle, I know Tom Lawrence is injured so he can help in that regard. That is something that they need when playing a side that is defensive at Ibrox, someone to break things down. I don't feel they have the imagination there at this moment in time."
