Alfredo Morelos agent change is Rangers latest sign they must act NOW on record breaking star's future

A lot has changed for Alfredo Morelos in recent months – will his club be next?

The Rangers striker has recently switched agents and in recent months you would also have to say he’s been a changed man.

The more cynical among us would point to the fact the Colombian international has only a year left on his Ibrox contract after this one.

The clock is ticking down all right.

The 25-year-old has served Rangers well and for a bargain price since his move from HJK Helsinki back in 2017.

Morelos has had his ups and downs at Ibrox but the one thing he always guarantees is goals.

The striker is now the club’s record European goalscorer and you wouldn’t bet against him adding to that impressive tally in Serbia.

Rangers have knocked back a lot of big-money bids for him in the past because they didn’t meet their valuation.

Morelos, at times, took the disappointment to heart and it impacted him on the pitch, from China to Lille.

It also hit his valuation hard as did his on-pitch volatility along with some of his antics off the field.

The Light Blues frontman, however, really seems to be back firing under Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

The Dutchman quickly got him back in the box and in front of the sticks and it is no surprise he has started scoring more regularly.

There also seems to be a maturity about Morelos. He appears to be more of a team player and doesn’t get involved in the same confrontations or flashpoints on the pitch.

He has also become a dad. Maybe that has made a difference but perhaps he is just starting to grow up and as the penny drops, the pounds soar.

Morelos has never hidden his desire to play in one of Europe’s top five leagues – it’s just that he hasn’t had a chance to do so since French side Lille made a major push for him a couple of years ago.

But now Morelos is back in the form of his Ibrox career, big clubs will now be sitting up and taking notice.

The problem for Rangers is he is going into his last season and the likelihood is he isn’t going to sign a new deal.

So the club are left with an issue. Do they decide to try to cash in come the summer or do they run the risk of him leaving Ibrox on a free transfer?

Also Morelos is only signing up with a new agent because they can get him that move away he craves.

The financial element could be aided if Morelos was to help Rangers to the Premiership title and they would then have the jackpot of automatic Champions League football next season.

The Ibrox club have shown, this season, with Connor Goldson they are willing to let their top players run down their contracts rather than cash in by selling.

The level of value in Morelos is slightly different and it is more likely they will also see this summer as their window of opportunity.
