Alfa Semedo 'set' for Celtic loan transfer with obligation to buy as Benjamin Siegrist 'spotted'

Celtic are set to sign Alfa Semedo from Vitoria Guimaraes, according to reports.

The midfielder is believed to have agreed an initial loan move to Parkhead that includes an obligation to buy for €2.5m Euro with a further £1m in add-ons say Portuguese outlet Diario de Transferencias.

Ange Postecoglou is keen to add to his pool as he bids to defend his Scottish Premiership crown after winning the title back from Rangers and make a splash in the Champions League with the Hoops set to enter the group stages of the lucrative competition. Semedo only joined Portuguese side Guimaraes last season but he now looks set to depart the club after just one campaign to start a new adventure in Scotland.

The 24-year-old is no stranger to British football having spent two separate loan spells in England with Reading and now English Premier League outfit Nottingham Forest.

He's been capped 12 times to date for his country and now looks to fill up a position in the Hoops squad that needs adding to after the departures of Tom Rogic and Nir Bitton.

Another player linked with Celtic is former Dundee United goalkeeper Benjamin Siegrist.

Postecoglou wants to add further competition for No1 Joe Hart with Scott Bain currently playing the back-up role at Parkhead.

The Swiss goalkeeper has apparently been spotted at a Glasgow City hotel, according to the Scottish Sun with a move appearing to edge closer.

Celtic return for pre-season next week ahead of the new campaign and they could be bolstered by a number of new faces.

Cameron Carter-Vickers has turned his loan into a permanent stay with Jota looking set to follow suit imminently.
