'Alexis Mac Allister makes Champions League decision amid Manchester United links' and more transfer rumours

Manchester United have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Alexis Mac Allister with reports that the midfielder would want Champions League football guaranteed, should he leave Brighton this summer.

United are among a number of clubs interested in Mac Allister, with Erik ten Hag keen on adding a top-class midfielder to his ranks. The Dutchman failed to land Frenkie de Jong last summer and remains in the hunt for a ball-playing No.8 of a similar profile, once he lands the priority position of a striker.

Mac Allister has attracted interest from the Premier League's top sides, following a brilliant season on the south coast as Roberto De Zerbi's side make a late push for European football. However a place in the top-four is highly unlikely and the Athletic suggest that could see the Argentine look elsewhere in search of Champions League experience.

Liverpool have often been cited as United's major rivals in the race for the 24-year-old, meaning their potential failure to qualify for the Champions League could harm their chances of signing the World Cup winner. Mac Allister signed a new deal with Brighton in October, but head coach De Zerbi admitted on Sunday that he will likely lose his star and fellow midfielder Moises Caicedo.

Elsewhere, reports from France earlier this week suggested that United are still interested in Adrien Rabiot, with Ten Hag said to have already made contact with the midfielder.

However 90min reports that they are not the only ones, with Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham all eyeing the Frenchman who will become a free agent once his contract at Juventus expires this summer.

Rabiot opened the door to a move in December when he admitted he would like to play in the Premier League.

But despite uncertainty over his future, the 28-year-old continues to be one of Juventus' most consistent performers as they fight for a Champions League place.
