Alexis Mac Allister insists he is in no rush to leave Brighton after the World Cup, despite rumoured transfer interest from the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool.
The Argentina playmaker has been linked with a big-money exit from the Amex Stadium after playing a key role in his country’s recent triumph in Qatar and greatly enhancing his own profile.
Mac Allister started all but one of La Albiceleste’s games en route to their first global triumph since 1986 in Qatar, scoring in the crucial Group C win over Poland and also registering an assist in that unforgettable final showdown with France - teeing up Angel Di Maria’s first-half goal at Lusail Stadium.
Such a fine run quickly saw the 24-year-old mentioned in connection with an exit from Brighton, who welcomed back their returning hero - complete with his winners’ medal - on Monday with a brilliant reception featuring embraces from all his team-mates and even a mock World Cup trophy lift with cannons of blue and white confetti set off.
Premier League trio Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool are among the clubs heavily linked with the £60million-rated Mac Allister in recent days, along with several other clubs across Europe including Serie A giants Juventus.
However, he says he is not seeking to force a swift exit from the club for whom he has made 86 appearances since joining from Argentinos Juniors back in January 2019.
Mac Allister - it is certainly worth noting - only agreed a new Brighton contract extension in October that ties him to the club until June 2025, with the club possessing the option to extend that deal by a further 12 months.
“I try not to read too much (speculation),” Mac Allister told Albion TV on Monday. “I always say I am happy here, I don’t have any rush to leave. I feel really good, I’m really grateful with this club, my team-mates and all the people who work here. I’m just focused on the next game and this club.
“It was a good World Cup for this club and for the players who went to the World Cup. We know we’ve got a good team with really good players. This is a tough league, it will be hard, but we will try to finish as high as we can.”
