Liverpool have 'stepped up their efforts' to sign Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton and Hove Albion in the summer transfer window.
That's according to The Guardian, who is report that James Milner is close to moving in the opposite direction.
Mac Allister was a key figure as Argentina won the World Cup in Qatar in December and he has been linked with a number of top clubs in the Premier League due to his superb form on the south coast.

Mac Allister is expected to leave Brighton in either May or June, coinciding with Jurgen Klopp liking to get his transfer targets signed before the start of pre-season.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano reported on the Guardian: "Liverpool’s pursuit of Mac Allister has led them to present details of their financial proposal and project to the Argentina international. Although talks are advancing there is no agreement for the 24-year-old, who is expected to leave Brighton in May or June."
The 24-year-old is thought to be a target for Jurgen Klopp ahead of a summer clear out at Anfield and a midfield rebuild. Chelsea's Mason Mount, Ryan Gravenberch of Bayern Munich and Sporting Lisbon's Manuel Ugarte are also targets.
Milner is thought to be ready to end his Liverpool career once his contract expires in the summer with a move to Roberto De Zerbi's side on the cards.
