Alexandre Lacazette sends three-word message to ex-Arsenal star amid exciting Aston Villa debut

Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette wished Calum Chambers good luck ahead of his debut for Aston Villa against Leeds United on Wednesday.

The former Southampton man completed a surprise switch to Villa Park during the January transfer window, drawing to a close his eight-year spell at the Emirates Stadium in the process.

His move to the Midlands certainly came out of the blue, especially with Arsenal allowing him to depart for free - albeit with his contract set to expire in the summer.

After completing his transfer, the 27-year-old prepared to make his debut for his new side against Leeds United on Wednesday evening - but not before he was sent a message by ex-Gunners’ teammate Lacazette.

Posting on his Instagram story with an image of the game, the Frenchman wrote: “Good luck bro.”

In the end, Chambers only ended playing for a short time as he replaced Jacob Ramsey in the closing seconds of the 90 minutes - albeit a lengthy period of added-on time being competed at Villa Park.

It was certainly an exciting game for the ex-Arsenal man to be involved in, with the game finishing 3-3.

Chambers’ new teammates had raced into a 3-1 lead ahead of half-time, with a goal from ex-Liverpool man Philippe Coutinho and a brace from Ramsey seeing Steven Gerrard’s men lead after coming from behind following Dan James’ early opener.

However, another goal from the Welshman after the break, as well as an equaliser from Diego Llorente, saw the game end level - albeit Villa finishing the game with ten men after Ezri Konsa was sent off late on.

Chambers will certainly be looking forward to a reunion with Lacazette and the rest of his former Arsenal teammates next month, with the Gunners set to travel to Villa Park in mid-March.

Mikel Arteta’s men won the previous game between the two 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium, with Thomas Partey, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Emile Smith Rowe all getting among the goals.
