Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak has admitted that he wants to "make a mark" at the club after he was nominated for both the Player and Goal of the Month awards in the Premier League in March.
Isak's brace against Nottingham Forest saw him score his third goal this month as he helped the Magpies claim all three points in a breathless 90 minutes at the City Ground. His performances in March have seen him make the shortlist of the best players while the first of his two goals against Forest - a sensational volley - has seen him included in the hunt for the best strike also.
Liverpool's Mohamed Salah, Aston Villa's Tyrone Mings, Brighton's Alexis Mac Allister and Arsenal duo Bukayo Saka and Leandro Trossard are also up against the Swede for Player of the Month. Isak has now admitted that although it will be tough to win, he is simply looking to push on with Newcastle for the rest of the season as best he can, regardless if he comes out on top individually or not.

"I’m happy for that [being nominated for the award]," Isak told Sky Sports. "Obviously there are many players there [that have been nominated] that have had a good month, so we’ll see.
"I am the way I am and obviously I want to make a mark in the club and I know how big it is and I know what this club means to the people of Newcastle. So I just play my game and hopefully I can score more and do better for the team."
As Premier League football will not resume until the beginning of April, voting is now underway until 12pm (GMT) on Monday, 27 March. The votes of the public will be combined with a panel of 'football experts' to pick the winning player.
