Eddie Howe has ruled Alexander Isak out of Newcastle United's festive programme - and is targeting January for the £63million man to make an impact.
The Sweden international has been sidelined since September and despite Howe stating before the World Cup he hoped to bring him back during the trip to Saudi Arabia, Isak's return remains a cautious one. For now the Toon head coach must plan for Leicester City and Leeds United without the ex-La Liga star.

Isak's comeback is being followed closely by supporters but Howe is confident he will hit the ground running when he reappears in 2023.
Howe said at a packed Press conference today: "He's doing well. We're pleased with him. Is he going to make the next couple of Premier League games? Probably not.
"He's going in the right direction and we hope in the busy January period he can play a big part in that."
Isak had scored twice before picking up the nagging muscle injury.
Speaking on Isak's mood, Howe said: "When you're away from the spotlight, you can get to know the club, your team-mates and you can begin to feel at home so when you do step back on the pitch, you're more comfortable in your surroundings...we have to hope he comes back and makes a real difference."
