Alexander Isak compared to 'young Ryan Giggs' after Newcastle United wonder assist at Everton

Alexander Isak's 'extraordinary' piece of skill to set up Newcastle United's fourth goal at Everton on Thursday night has been compared to a 'young Ryan Giggs'.

The Swedish forward came off the bench in the 4-1 win at Goodison Park and created United's final goal for Jacob Murphy with a mazy run that took out four Everton defenders, before his cross was turned in by Murphy at the far post.

It capped a remarkable few days for the former Real Sociedad man, with two first-half goals in the 6-1 rout of Tottenham just a few days before.

Former England, Manchester City and West Ham winger Trevor Sinclair knows a thing or two about creative assists, and was full of praise for the Newcastle star - although highly critical of Everton's defending.

“Isak’s skill there is extraordinary," he told talkSPORT. "I would go as far saying it’s disrespectful, the way that he dribbled and waltzed in and out of the Everton defenders.

“He picks the ball out on the halfway line. He’s toying with them. It’s bad from Keane and Godfrey, but it’s wing wizardry at its complete best. It reminds me of a young Ryan Giggs.”

“Someone has got to boot him, when he starts travelling like that and taking liberties.

“Someone has to say, ‘you might be winning and you might be third in the league, but nobody takes the mickey out of us’. He sent them all packing multiple times.”

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe must now consider whether to recall Isak to the starting line-up for the visit of Southampton on Sunday, with Callum Wilson marking his recall to the side with two goals against Everton.
