Alexander Isak breaks silence on potential Arsenal transfer and controversial London trip

Real Sociedad striker Alexander Isak has opened up about his controversial trip to London and a potential transfer to Arsenal.

The Gunners were in desperate need of a striker during the January window given both Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are into the final six months of their contracts at the club whilst Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was allowed to join Barcelona on deadline day.

Technical director Edu spent the majority of the month chasing Fiorentina's Dusan Vlahovic but as football.london previously reported, the player wanted to stay in Serie A before sealing a move to Juventus last week.

The likes of Lille centre-forward Jonathan David and the aforementioned Isak were named as potential alternatives and Arsenal supporters were convinced that the latter would be joining after he was spotted in the English capital alongside teammate Adnan Januzaj.

When asked about the north Londoners' interest, the Swedish international told Mundo Deportivo: "I am not talking about other clubs.

"I am a Real player, I work here and this is my club. My work is on the pitch, and as I told you before, there are other people who work outside."

Asked if he will stay at Sociedad, the youngster replied: "You can never be sure of anything.

"As I always say, you never know what can happen in football but in the end I’m here, happy, and nothing more."

The 22-year-old also played down talk of his trip to London last weekend, claiming that it was merely a leisure trip and didn't relate to a potential transfer in any way.

"It was to spend our free time, it is our private life and there is not much more to say about that," he added.

"The players had rest days on the weekend, it is our free time."
