Alexander Isak already surpassing Thierry Henry potential after 10 Premier League games

Alexander Isak’s goalscoring record at Newcastle United after 10 Premier League games obliterates Thierry Henry’s during the same period. The Swedes’ pace, power, frame, technique and - most importantly - finishing ability has led some to compare him to the Arsenal legend.

Should Isak have even half the success of Henry, Newcastle supporters will be in for a treat. Two Premier Leagues, two FA Cups and a Champions League runner-up medal etched the French superstar into Arsenal's history.

Goals in back-to-back fixtures against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Nottingham Forest make Isak the main man on Tyneside for the foreseeable future. A brace at the City Ground took his tally to the season to six from his first 10 to-flight appearances.

Injuries stalled the opening months of Isak’s Newcastle career but he is now back with a bang and keeping the Magpies’ Champions League dream alive. Henry, too, endured a slow start to life in England.

However, his was not due to spending time on the treatment table. The Gunners' all-time leading scorer struggled to find the net early during his early days at Highbury.

Just one goal from his opening 10 games started to raise questions about whether Henry would flop in England. In fact, the now revered club legend did not bag again until his 13th Premier League fixture, a 2-1 win over Derby County.

By the end of the campaign, Henry would emerge as a Premier League force and confirm his status as one of Europe’s most destructive strikers. While Arsenal finished a staggering 18 points behind champions Manchester United, Henry ended the season with 26 goals across all competitions.

League triumphs in 2002 and 2004 immortalised Henry and banished his poor start to the history books. Isak has enjoyed a smoother transition to English football as he aims to launch an assault on the title in the coming years.
