Alexander-Arnold, Keita, Milner - Liverpool injury round-up and expected return dates

Liverpool return to Premier League action against Watford in Saturday’s early kick-off and will be keen to not only record their 10th successive top flight victory, but to overtake Manchester City at the top of the table for a few hours at least.

And Jurgen Klopp will have plenty of options at his disposal ahead of this weekend’s contest against the Hornets, although he has had three players in the treatment room following their most recent game, and will be hoping to welcome back one or two for this Anfield fixture.

Here is all you need to know about the current state of play at Anfield and the expected return dates for those currently on the sidelines.

Trent Alexander-Arnold

Trent Alexander-Arnold proves to be Liverpool ’s biggest injury concern due to his importance within the side and the young right-back has been suffering with a hamstring injury following the 2-0 victory over Arsenal on March 16.

The 23-year-old was forced to sit out of the FA Cup victory at Nottingham Forest just four days later, and it is expected that this weekend will still come too soon for him to make a return, although there is the potential for him to be back in contention for the huge title clash with Man City on April 10.

On March 18, Klopp said: "Trent is out with a hamstring. He cannot be part of England as well. No good news, we will see how long that takes."

Can Liverpool beat Man City on April 10 without Alexander-Arnold in their side? Let us know what you think in the comments section below.

Naby Keita

Midfielder Naby Keita has been nursing a knee injury over the international break after pulling out of Guinea’s friendly with South Africa on March 25, after linking up with his national side.

The 27-year-old played 64 minutes of Liverpool’s FA Cup tie with Nottingham Forest in their most recent game before the international break, with no indication that he picked up any problems from that fixture.

However, his current knee injury has been described as ‘minor’ and there has been no indication made that he will be out of action this weekend, so it can be expected that he will be available for the visit of Watford on Saturday.

James Milner

Veteran midfielder James Milner has been able to use the international break to rest and recuperate after suffering a bout of illness which kept him out of Liverpool’s two most recent games ahead of the two week lay-off.

The 36-year-old supposedly had a virus and last featured for the Reds when coming off the bench as a second half substitute in their 2-0 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion on March 12.

But Milner is expected to have returned to full fitness ahead of Saturday’s clash with Watford and should be back amongst the matchday squad ahead of a busy run of fixtures for Klopp’s side.
