Alex Valle transfer bombshell drops before Celtic game

A huge transfer bombshell has dropped on Celtic just an hour before their Champions League tie with RB Leipzig tonight.

Alex Valle could reportedly be recalled from his season-long loan in Glasgow by parent club Barcelona in January.

Spanish media outlet El National.cat claims that the La Liga giants have made the decision to bring Valle back to the club in January.

The 20-year-old joined the Scottish Premiership champions on loan for the season in August.

The young left-back has made eight appearances since joining.

Barca are believed to have been monitoring his performances closely since he joined the Hoops.

Valle has grown into his role within Brendan Rodgers' squad after a shaky start to life in green and white Hoops.

He's helped provide competition and injury cover for Greg Taylor, with the Spaniard providing three assists in his time at the club so far.

However, Barca are in the midst of an injury crisis at left-back, and so, Hansi Flick is said to be keen to bring Valle back to the club.

Alejandro Balde is the only senior recognised left-back at the club as things stand, with Gerard Martin in the reserves.

It's reported that Valle is seen as the ideal solution to ease their worries in that position, so, a January reunion could be on the cards.

If that does play out, then the Hoops would be due compensation for Valle's services, with an agreement in place with Barcelona to have the defender on loan until the end of the season.

It's said that Joan Laporta and Deco are working on cancelling the deal with Celtic to take Valle back to the Nou Camp early.
