Alex Scott delivers verdict on his recent form as the Bristol City star eyes summer Euros spot

Bristol City wonderkid Alex Scott has admitted he has been disappointed with his own form in recent weeks but is working hard to put it right with the Under-19 European Championships looming.

The 18-year-old has started 31 Championship games this season and his consistent performances have been one of the few positives throughout a rather underwhelming Bristol City campaign.

Scott's form, particularly around Christmas and into the New Year, certainly had not gone unnoticed with numerous Premier League scouts in attendance to watch him in action. Everton and Leicester were just two of the clubs linked with a summer move for the youngster who has been performing beyond his years under Nigel Pearson.

But even he admits he has struggled to reach those same levels during the last month, which is more evidence of the maturity that Scott boasts both on and off the pitch.

"I think the past month or so I haven't been great and I haven't been too happy with my performances," he said.

"Wherever I play, wing-back or midfield I just want to enjoy my football and I'm really grateful I get to play every week at the minute.

"Wherever I play I'll give 100 per cent and I think that shows each week and I haven't been great these last few weeks but I want to put that right.

"There's four games left of the rest of the season and we just want to enjoy our football. The gaffer told us to enjoy our football on the pitch and I think it really showed (against Stoke)."

While many of his team-mates undoubtedly have their summer holiday destinations in mind with the end of the season fast approaching on May 7, Scott's plans remain on hold for now.

He is eyeing a spot in the England squad for their Under-19 Euros campaign kicking off in June - a further opportunity to enhance his reputation as one of the best young talents in the Championship.

Scott was forced to miss their matches in March due to an ankle injury but is eager to make up for lost time when the Slovakia tournament gets underway and add to the seven caps he already has under his belt.

He added: "I love playing football so when I'm off in the summer, I'll still be playing football and hopefully with England in the Euros hopefully I can get called up for that so the summer will be non-stop anyway."

Looking ahead to Sheffield United, there remains just one thing in mind for Scott and that is for City to shrug the monkey off their back and pick up the first back-to-back wins of the season.

Scott said: "It's massive for us, we spoke about it after every win and it hasn't quite happened for us for whatever reason and we've got to put that right and that (Stoke) performance gives us the best chance to do so.

"There's four games left of the rest of the season and we just want to enjoy our football.

"We can take a lot of confidence (defensively) from that performance. We need to try and eliminate us being a bit hit and miss until the end of the season and we really want to go two games on the bounce winning so that's our main objective for Monday."
