Alex Runarsson signs Alanyaspor loan deal as Arsenal continue to trim squad

Arsenal goalkeeper Alex Runarsson has completed a loan move to Turkish side Alanyaspor.

Runarsson, who joined Arsenal in 2020 from Dijon for around £1million, has slipped down the pecking order under Mikel Arteta.

The goalkeeper spent last season on loan at Oud-Heverlee Leuven and was told this summer he could go out again.

The strongest interest in Runarsson has always been from Turkey this summer, with Antalyaspor also keen on signing him too.

Alanyaspor, however, moved ahead in a deal to take Runarsson for the season on loan, which was confirmed on Monday night.

The club confirmed: “Everyone at Arsenal wishes Alex all the best this coming season with Alanyaspor.”

Goalkeeper Bernd Leno also left the club earlier this summer for Fulham, with Matt Turner coming in as the new No2.
