Alex Lowry in Rangers injury boost as Ibrox starlet gets 'boots back on'

Alex Lowry has pulled the “boots back on” as he steps up his bid to get back on the park. The youngster was crocked during a ‘B’ team game against Dumbarton after a crude challenge by Sons winger Ally Love.

The teenager was ruled out for “some weeks” by manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst when the Dutchman reacted to the injury back in August but Lowry posted a picture his Instagram account of him back at the Rangers training ground with his boots on, ready for a session.

Lowry was handed his top team debut by Van Bronckhorst last January when he scored in a Scottish Cup win over Stirling Albion and went on to make half a dozen more appearances for the Light Blues, netting again in the final game of the season against Hearts.

The midfielder was rewarded with an Ibrox contract extension as he signed a deal to keep him at Rangers until 2025. Van Bronckhorst turned to youngsters Leon King and Charlie McCann for the win over Dundee United and Lowry might have been in with a chance had he not been crocked but it looks like he could be available sooner rather than later.
