Alex Jones unimpressed as Nikki Fox labels One Show co-host Jermaine Jenas 'fit' on air

Alex Jones looked less than impressed on Wednesday after Nikki Fox branded her One Show co-host Jermaine Jenas as a 'fit man' live on air.

Fellow presenter Nikki made the comment about former England footballer Jermaine in the build-up to a segment of the show about Fitbit Ionic watches.

Nikki, 42, said: "Jermaine Jenas, you strike me as a fit man," leading Jermaine, 39, to quip in response: "Oh, I like this" as he adjusted his shirt.

Shaking her head and rolling her eyes, 45-year old Alex replied: "Stop it Nikki, I mean honestly" as laughs could be heard around the BBC studio.

Nikki continued: "I should have said a man who likes to keep fit and keep on top of it."

Jermaine added: "I try. Keep going, keep going! Come on, keep it coming."

Award-winning journalist Nikki joked: "This was always going to be an awkward link for me."

The rest of the show ran smoothly and featured interviews with comedian Katherine Ryan and the dean of St Paul's Cathedral - Very Reverend David Ison.

The antics seemingly proved far more entertaining for viewers than Thursday's edition, which resulted in fans switching off during a 'chaotic' interview between Romesh Ranganathan and Rob Beckett.

The comedians appeared on the programme to plug their new show, Rob and Romesh Vs Strongman. But things went downhill when the pair, and fellow guest Bonnie Langford, began talking over each other.

Chaos ensued after a preview clip of the new show aired - leaving hosts Alex Jones and Ronan Keating baffled as to what to do.

Ronan teased Rob over his singing ability, joking: "I think you need to think about your tuning a little bit."

"You were in a musical though, anyway," said Bonnie, referring to Rob's performance in Cinderella.

Alex was soon all smiles again as the pair discussed Wales' qualification for the World Cup (BBC)

Rob said: "I was in a Hollywood film." Romesh interrupted: "Thanks Bonnie, I was also in that film." Rob shouted: "He was a mouse, doesn't really count. I was with Camila Cabello."

Romesh replied: "So was I! Bonnie, if you're bigging someone up, do your research. Both of us were in the film!"

Viewers immediately took to Twitter to voice their displeasure, with one user writing: "Currently a noisy clash of egos."

Another said: "What a bloody racket... turned over."

A third added: "Dear god that was all a bit unnecessary. Had to reach for the volume."
