Alex Jones returns to One Show with brave face despite 'tricky and challenging patch'

Alex Jones returned to host The One Show on Tuesday following her candid admission that she's going through a "tricky and challenging patch in her life".

The 45 year old took to Instagram to open up to her followers, explaining that things had been "challenging".

Presenter Alex, who is mum to children Teddy, Annie and Kit with husband Charlie Thompson, shared a picture of a lemon as she thanked her 338,000 followers for the kind messages she had received.

She wrote: "Things have been a bit tricky for us recently and in all honesty, I haven’t had time to be on here between working and the children but I randomly logged on and saw all your lovely messages gently asking if we were all ok.

"I was touched by your kindness and so I just wanted to check in and say thank you, and that even though life has been a bit challenging, we are ok and still managing to enjoy the beginning of the holidays and there’s still plenty to smile about! (I’ll pop some stuff on my stories)

"#whenlifegivesyoulemons #thekindnessofstrangers."

Her celeb pals were quick to comment, with Zoe Ball writing: "big love atcha beauty."

While Izzy Judd remarked: "sending love xxxx."

Charlotte Hawkins added: "Hope all OK, sending love."

Alex later took to her Instagram Stories to share a video of her children enraptured with a performance in the Royal Albert Hall.

She wrote: "We had a very special morning @ceebeebieshq @bbc_proms on Saturday. Such an experience for the children just to be at The Royal Albert Hall and seeing Andy in the flesh pretty much blew their minds!"
