Exes Alex Jones and Steve Jones reunited on screen this evening, with one or two awkward moments during their time on The One Show sofa together.
The two Welsh presenters were in a relationship from 1999 to 2002 when they both worked on Channel 4 show Rise, but split after Steve stole an interview with a Hollywood A-lister from Alex.
Appearing on the show alongside his ex, Steve, 46, discussed his first novel – ‘Call Time’ – about a man who finds an old mobile phone and ends up speaking to his 12-year-old self.
Steve revealed the unique idea came about while he was day drinking in the pub with a close friend of his, and the rest is history.
Introducing her ex-partner while presenting alongside Jermaine Jenas, Alex, 46, joked that she had 'read all about' Steve's book - but viewers were not convinced that the pair felt comfortable being around one another after their bitter split.
Taking to Twitter to share their reactions to the interview - which also included Joanna Lumley - viewers called out the awkward interview.
"Steve can't even look Alex in the eye! He's glaring at Jermaine," one insisted.
"OMG you could cut the tension with a knife between Alex and Steve," another echoed.
"They had a brutal breakup but fair play to them for being the bigger people and actually coming together for an interview like this," someone else tweeted.
Alex previously revealed that she split with her ex-boyfriend Steve after he lied in order to intercept her interview with Angelina Jolie.
The Welsh star, who dated TV presenter Steve from 1999 to 2002, discussed the betrayal on an episode of Dish podcast with Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett.
Alex was working as an entertainment correspondent for the Channel 4 show Rise when she was given the opportunity to interview the Oscar-winning actress.
The One Show host revealed that Steve had told her bosses that she was sick when she was actually just out shopping.
"Normally [Rise] would call in the morning and ask to come and do an interview or junket," The One Show hosted recalled on the podcast.
"I was staying in his [Steve’s] flat at the time when I was working in London and he picked up the landline and said ‘Al’s not here. She’s not feeling well, she’s had to go back to Cardiff’ – I was in Topshop."
"So he did the interview," Alex added.
